Adventure Parks Group, which owns Cypress Gardens Adventure Park and Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia, have purchased the Starliner wooden roller coaster from the now defunct Miracle Strip Park in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Miracle Strip Park closed September, 2004, and until now the future of the classic 1963 out-and-back wooden roller coaster was unknown. President/CEO Kent Buescher is at present undecided about which of the two parks will receive the roller coaster.
Dismantling of Starliner is already underway and it will take at least six weeks before the ride can be moved. The project will be overseen by John Fetterman and Leonard Adams of Knoebels Amusement Resort. It is expected to open at its new home during the 2006 season.
