Six Flags Great Adventure to add massive wooden roller coaster in 2006
Posted by: Webmaster | 29 September 2005 02:07

El Toro will open in spring 2006 at Six Flags Great Adventure as the second tallest and fastest roller coaster in the US. The thrill ride, which incorporates the most daring features of the world’s best wooden roller coasters combined with the smooth speed of a steel coaster, will be the star of a vibrant, newly-themed area of the park, Plaza del Carnaval. Just around the corner, families with young children will explore exciting, pint-sized adventures in the all-new Bugs Bunny National Park kids’ area, featuring new rides and attractions designed just for them. Both new areas, including monstrous El Toro, are set to open next season.

At 181 feet tall, reaching 70 mph, El Toro will rank among the tallest and fastest wooden roller coasters in the world. Its 4,400 feet of mountainous track includes records for second tallest, fastest and longest drop of all wooden coasters in America and features the world’s steepest drop on a wooden roller coaster, 76 white-knuckled degrees.

I've been to SFGA and I liked it a lot. I am sssssoooo happy they're putting a new wooden coaster in. Rolling Thunder sucked! I wanted to go back 4 Kingda Ka. Now I have another great reason to go! sounds like Magic Mountain has some competition for the best SF park!

YUP! EL TORO!(Spanish for 'The Bull') Is going in, opening *hopefully* around April or May 2006. STATS FOR THIS COASTER BELOW!!!

    Length: 4400 Feet.
Height: 181 Feet with a 176 foot drop.
    Speed: 70 mph.
RECORD BREAKING DROP ANGLE: 76 degrees(14 degrees away from vertical)

After First Drop, There will be 2 camelbacks, hopefully both granting AWESOME AIRTIME, and from what it looks like, they will, for one will be at 112 feet and the other at 100 feet. Camelbacks are right after first drop.

For those who dont know where this ride is going and are fans of SFGADV, this ride is going to be where Viper used to be. (Thanks GADV for getting rid of Viper btw). They are going to use Vipers station for El Toros station, and also, after the cutback after the two camelbacks in the beginning, this ride will cut through the middle section of Rolling Thunder and over the first drop.

AND THATS ALL I KNOW FOR SURE FOR RIGHT NOW...will update if I find out anything else.
