Great American Scream Machine, Six Flags Great Adventure - Review

Great American Scream Machine - Review

Six Flags Great Adventure

Very similar if not identical to the former Shockwave at Six Flags Great America, this multi-looper coaster may thrill the general public but all it did for me was give me a headache! The overhead shoulder restraints are very uncomfortable and the poorly designed transitions make this ride a real headbanger. It is a little smoother in the back.

The ride still looks quite daunting even by today's standards. It features seven inversions including three vertical loops, a pretzel loop, and a double corkscrew. The first drop is quite nice, but the first loop is too intense and features a trim brake nasty as you exit the loop. The rest of the ride is no better. The GASM has just not aged well and I wouldn't waste any time standing in line for this one.
