Dania Beach Hurricane, Boomers - Review

Dania Beach Hurricane - Review

Ride Facts and Info

Wooden double-out-and back roller coaster manufactured by Coaster Works, Inc. The ride has 2 PTC trains with 5 cars containing 3 rows of 2 seats. Restraints consist of individual racheting lapbars and seatbelts.

Ride Layout

The ride begins with a left-hand turnaround out of the station and onto the lifthill. After the lift is a right turn complete with a small drop that leads the first drop of the ride. A double up follows the first drop, and this leads into a banked right-hand turnaround, the track continues turning to the right as it enters the first part of a double down, during the second part of the double down, the track turns to the left until it is running side-by-side with the first drop.

There then follows another double up, which leads into a banked left-hand turnaround; again the turn continues into the next drop, before it straightens out on the way back up. A small drop then follows, before the train takes a left-hand turnaround back into the home stretch. The home stretch consists of three bunny hills and a left-hand turn onto the brake run and back into the station.

Ride Evaluation

Sitting in the front the ride provides plenty of ejector airtime, with the best moments being the two double ups, the first part of the double down, and the final bunny. Sitting in row 3, the ejector air is not as powerful at the beginning, but instead is replaced with some prolonged floating air, which will see you rising gently out of your seat for two or three seconds at a time. The back seat also provides plenty of airtime, although I find it was more powerful in the front.

The ride is very smooth, and you would think you were on a CCI woodie. Fans of intensity may be a little disappointed since the laterals are not very strong, and I noted one dead stretch of track between the second and third turnarounds where the ride produces little force. However, the ride features more than enough negative g’s to keep airtime junkies like myself coming back for more, and since the coaster rarely has a line, there is nothing to stop you clocking up lap and lap, just a shame you have to keep walking round though.

All in all this is a great fun coaster with lots of airtime, and it definitely makes Boomers worth a visit, and check out the ride at night to see interesting some multi-colored lighting effects on the ride.
