Starliner - Review

Miracle Strip Park

Ride Facts and Info

Out-and-back wooden coaster designed by John Allen. The ride has 2 trains, each with 3 cars containing 3 rows of 2 seats. The trains have bench seats, and have seat belts and a one-position buzz bar for restraints. The ride is manually operated with only 1 train operated at a time.

Ride Layout

The station has a left-hand curve, and once the brakes are released the train exits the station and continues turning until it reaches the lift hill. The first drop travels to ground-level, and is then followed by a small bunny hop that produces some nice floating air in the front of the train. There then follows a larger hill which features a tunnel at the bottom of the drop; the tunnel is themed as a dragon’s mouth and includes a small bunny hop which produces some very powerful ejector in the front of the train, completely taking riders by surprise the first time.

The train then climbs up onto a left-hand turnaround which features a noticeable decline, and result in the train picking up more speed. The turn continues past 180-degrees, and takes two more drops before curving to the right on the climb of the next hill so that it is aligned with the out section of the track. Three bunny hops follow before the train climbs up and turns slightly to the right as it enters the brake shed, which leads to the to station.

Ride Evaluation

Starliner has a real classic look and feel and appears to be very well maintained. Riding in the front the ride is quite smooth, relatively fast, and provides some wonderful ejector in the tunnel and some reasonable floating air over one or two the bunny hills. I did not get to ride in the back of the train, but I enjoyed my one ride very much, and it will be a shame to see this coaster go.
