    Boomers - Review

Review by: Webmaster | Last update: 28-Mar-2004 | Based on 1 visit in 03/04

Boomers is a small miniature golf and games park located just off the I95 near Fort Lauderdale. It is a about 220 miles south of Orlando, and is accessible by two main routes, the very expensive Florida Turnpike, which will cost you about $15.00 one way, or the hideously congested I95, which will take you forever. Either way, you can hit the park in one day and return back to Orlando the same night.

Your main incentive for visiting the park will probably be the Dania Beach Hurricane, a wooden coaster that was built in late 2000. The park also has the longest Go-Kart track in America, over a mile and a half long, as well as a Sky Coaster, Skyscraper, and a few other family and kiddie rides. They also have lavish miniature golfing, plus a large arcade featuring some of the latest video arcade games.

Boomers is open daily from 10am until 2am weekdays, and 4am weekends, although the roller coaster closes at 11pm most nights. Entry to the park is free, and you can pay per ride, or purchase various ride-and-play all day wristbands depending on what you want to do. I would strongly recommend purchasing a ride-all-day wristband for the roller coaster at $10, which is less than the price of two rides if you pay per ride.

For fans of woodies, Boomers is a must, especially whilst visiting a wood starved state such as Florida. If you’re not a great fan of woodies, then the drive down from Orlando might not be worth the time and money, but if you are in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area then you absolutely must stop by for a ride on the Dania Beach Hurricane, it’s definitely worth it, and the lines are usually non-existent.
