Walt Disney Studios Paris - Review

Review by: Webmaster | Last update: 31-Oct-2002 | Based on 1 visit in 09/02

It's always nice to visit a brand new theme park, as everything is shiny new and you feel privileged being one of the first million or so visitors. However, Walt Disney Studios Paris is no privilege; it is nothing short of a poor excuse for a park!

I'm not the biggest fan of studios, but at least Universal Studios and MGM-Studios in Florida have far more to offer in the way of attractions. With the exception of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, there is very little at this park worth experiencing. Not only is the selection of attractions small, but several of them are quite pathetic!

Armageddon for instance seemed totally pointless! What is the point of herding a load of guests into a room disguised as a spaceship, and then setting off a few explosions, did I miss the story? Speaking of explosions, these effects are quite repetitive when they are used on several other attractions throughout the park.

The Studio Tram Tour wasn't very good either, and has to rate as the worst one I've seen outside of Warner Bros. Movie World, Germany. With the exception of Catastrophe Canyon, there was virtually nothing on it! Am I really supposed to believe that a few props littered by the side of the road were used in a blockbuster movie somewhere? Even Catastrophe Canyon was a bit of a let down, they could have tried to storyline it, rather than just pulling the tram up and letting the effects happen.

I only spent an hour and a half in the park, but really couldnt stand much more as I was so bored. Maybe I missed out on one or two good attractions, like the Stunt Show Spectacular which is supposed to be very good, but it still doesn't disguise the fact that this is one of the blandest parks I've been to; it makes Michigan's Adventure look pretty. There is very little theming, very little landscaping, and very little shade! The park looks like it was rushed and has no character at all, which for a Disney Park is quite unusual.

If you haven't visited a studio park before, then you might find a few things of interest here, but I wouldn't recommend spending the whole day. In fact, I certainly wouldn't recommend paying for a full day admission for the park, and judging by the lack of people in the park compared to Disneyland, I dont think I'm alone in my thoughts either!
