The launched lift hill seems like a bit of a waste to me as I expected something a little faster whereas here it just seems to serve the purpose as a chain or cable replacement.
The first drop is 95 degrees but too small to really provide any fear factor, but it does deliver a nice pop of airtime in the back of the train.
The ride is smooth and features several sudden changes in direction which due to the restraints can be a little uncomfortable if you are not prepared for them as your neck or head is forced into the restraints. The camelback is fun and provides some decent air in both the front and back of the train; the two Corkscrews are pretty standard and much on the forceless side.
The second launch is awesome and definitely my favorite part of the ride, it's fast but not overpowering; it does however seem like a bit of a waste to slow it down and brake it almost straight away on an uphill climb. I liked the drop over the lake and the twist and Horseshoe make unique elements to the ride, and again a nice small pop of air over the bunny hill.
Maverick is a good thrilling ride but did not take my breath away, there just seemed to be something lacking from it to make it one of my favorite coasters. It would have been better with some more theming and landscaping, for instance the tunnel could have had a mine theme and the ride would have benefited from being surrounded by trees rather than at the edge of the park, but that would be the case for a lot of coasters. Still I think the ride is a good crossover point between a family thrill ride and a white knuckle ride and it is thoroughly enjoyable.
